Beautiful antique dinner plate from the English pottery manufacturer Keeling & Co., marked “Losol Ware”. Made in Burslem, Staffordshire, England around 1890–1910.
WH Grindley & Co. was an English pottery manufacturer founded in 1880 in Staffordshire, known for its production of Losol Ware – a particularly hard-wearing type of earthenware developed around the turn of the century.
The plate is decorated in the classic blue and white flow blue style with fine gold details and has an elegant wavy edge. The pattern is characteristic of the late Victorian period.
Goal:
• Diameter: approx. 23 cm
• Height: approx. 3.5 cm
• Weight: approx. 337 g
The plate is slightly deep – a typical shape for dinner plates of the time, as dishes were often served with sauce or stew.
Condition:
In very good condition for its age, with light crazing in the glaze but no chips or cracks. The glaze shows age-appropriate crazing and light patina, which is normal and expected for antique faience pieces from the period and contributes to the plate's authentic expression and historical charm.
The decoration appears with a slightly blurred/soft transfer print, which is characteristic of the period.
Note: Minor variations and signs of wear may occur due to age.
