The motif was very popular around 1900 and was often reproduced in contemporary studio photographs, which explains its appearance in several variations.

The photograph is immediately estimated to originate from the period circa 1895–1925 and is mounted behind glass in an original gilded wooden frame. The frame is crafted using traditional framing techniques which, according to museum information, were used from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including a sealed back, a wooden frame with inlaid transverse wedges, and a gilded wooden frame or a wooden frame with, for example, bronzed gilding. The hanging mechanism features a flat nail. The surface of the wooden frame has natural patina and crazing, characteristic of its age.

Condition: The photograph on the passe-partout's black surface has something resembling flaking or a little dirt.

The frame has wear in a couple of places.
