Decorative and atmospheric cast-iron æbleskiver pan, hand-painted with Danish rural motifs and stamped H. Jensen Jyderup 1979 on the back.
Æbleskiver are a classic Danish Christmas pastry with roots dating back to the 18th century. Originally, they were made with small pieces of apple in the middle – hence the name. They were fried in special cast-iron pans with hemispherical depressions over an open fire. Today, it is a Danish Christmas tradition. Today, pancake batter is used.
A fine example of Danish folk art and the 1970s retro style.
