Lithophane porcelain beer mug with pewter lid, 1930s-40s

Porcelain beer stein with pewter lid and lithophane base in 'Blue Onion' decoration.

Classic European porcelain beer stein with cobalt blue onion pattern decoration and metal pewter lid. At the bottom of the mug is a lithophane relief motif with a romantic scene, which becomes visible when holding the bottom of the mug against the light.

This type of beer stein is often seen in German porcelain production in the first half of the 20th century and is a classic collector's item within beer steins.
